Who Was The Best Dracula?

Without a doubt it's Christopher Lee. Sure Bela Lugosi made the first impact but Sir Christopher made the part his over a 15 year period and for me when i was young he seemed to be always playing the Count.
Of course not all the Hammer Dracula's were that great but there are a few gems like, Horror Of Dracula (dracula in the UK), Dracula Has Risen From The Grave ( Drac gets a nifty bloody death in this one) and Dracula AD 1972 (which has the beautiful Caroline Munro!). There's one Dracula film that is a classic but has no Dracula in it, Brides Of Dracula which has Peter Cushing going all out as Van Helsing.
I'm glad Sir Christopher is still with us and he's probably right that the role Dracula hampered his film career but us fans don't mind, he's a legend and Dracula to us.

Great Horror TV Shows

Almost the last gasp from the original Hammer company, Hammer House Of Horror made in 1980 was a well made television version of horror and suspense we used to get from them in movie form. 13 episodes in total and some written,directed and starring Hammer vets like Peter Cushing. Warning this series was made during a time whent here was more freedom of content on British tv, so there's nudity and lots of blood at time so you know we love it here at the Macabre. May not be suitable for the whole family.

We lost one of the greats of Hammer Films this week, Jimmy Sangster.
Other blogs i'm sure will have a detail lists of the things he did at Hammer ( like writing the original Frankenstein films and more) and his later work in American television but we here at the Macabre want to remember and thank Jimmy for all his great frightening work!

August 11th

Today is the day we lost Peter Cushing. Just read this on another blog, i had forgotten. To me Cushing is still alive every time i watch one of his movies.
