Xmas Cards

We didn't get any Christmas cards here at the Macabre this year ( and we didn't send any out because we don't know anyone's address!) but this would make a great card, so here's your Xmas card from the Macabre Drive-In Theater with the enchanting Mistress of the Dark Elvira.

Hope you all have a Happy Holiday of your choice and that the zombies don't mess up your celebrations.

Doc Savage

Although Doc Savage really didn't have anything to do with real horror stories but this is one of the best paperback covers with a werewolf.
Brand of The Werewolf cover by the great James Bama was for the Bantam Doc Savage reprint line from the 60's and 70's (these books were such a huge part of my teenage reading world).
One of the reasons i love real books and not e-books, you get something to hold in your hand and the wonderful covers, there to entice you to buy and read them, that always worked on me. :)

Priceless

Nightmare On Elm Street

James Bond got re-booted,so did Halloween, Friday the 13th and Star Trek and on April 30th comes the re-boot of Nightmare On Elm Street.
Jackie Earle Haley is the new Freddy Krueger.
Bond and Trek worked and revitilized the franchises, not sure about the Rob Zombie Halloween (Zombie is now re-making the Blob without the Blob in it, i know what the fu**?!) haven't seen it.

I Ponder Sometimes

Is the Macabre Drive-In Theater the best kept secret on the Bloggerverse?
Are my posts too light and shallow content-wise? (not that i'm ever going to into any deep essay on subjects here, not my style).
Well i don't have a clue, so i'm just going to keep posting the way i have here.
* i have too much time to think about silly stuff like this because i miss Mistress Macabre Drive-In Theater and it's Christmas time which is always a bummer for your old Host*

It's that time of year, endless xmas commercials and holiday jeers.

Carry On Screaming

Just a few screen caps from Carry On Screaming, probably the best Carry On from the 60's and maybe the best of the whole series.
Carry On was a British comedy film series that lasted from the late 50's until the British film industry imploded in the 70's, the critics hated them (what do they know bunch of snobs) but people loved them.
The films usually starred Sid James (who stayed with the series until his fatal heart attack in the early 70's), Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Kenneth Connor, Joan Sims and many others like Jim Dale and Bernard Cribbins.
Carry On Screaming stars Harry H Corbett (in a one off starring role for Carry On), Kenneth Williams as Dr What,Jim Dale, Joan Sims,Peter Butterworth,Charles Hawtrey and Jon (Third Doctor Who) Pertwee, not sure why Sid isn't in the film probably why the got Corbett (who was a hot property at the time because of Steptoe & Son on British TV).
Can you tell i'm a fan of the Carry On films?
If you haven't seen Carry On Screaming it can be found on DVD in the US and UK, really it's a great film.

The Thing

One of my favorite monster movie of all times, the remake by John Carpenter wasn't bad but for me it'll always be the original as the best of the two. A flying saucer is found in the ice near the North Pole, scientists release with the help of the Air Force and the Alien space carrot is loose!
Wonderful acting and direction.

Cushing Cap

I think the day needs a Peter Cushing pic.
Here's St. Peter in "Tales From The Crypt".

Black Friday

I like the sound of "Black Friday", it really should be a day not un-like Halloween ( i mean can you ever get too much Halloween?) but it's a day of shopping for the masses. I avoid going most places and i certaintly don't go shopping on this day, too many people creep me out. Also the Drive-In's coffers are quite empty these days (thank goodness or should that be badness that Blogger is free!).
Since we've passed Turkey Day ( i had pizza) i'd like to say thanks to all the loyal readers of Macabre Drive-In Theater, you're good ghouls and gals!
I hope you'll always enjoy the Drive-In.

I didn't mean to go all quiet here at the Drive-In after Halloween, just kind of burned out on the creepy and fun posts you all enjoy.
I'll get cracking on posts soon, just needed a little holiday.

Gamera

Gamera Vs. Zedus, the final battle. This is from "Gamera The Brave", the most recent Gamera film. Gamera looks a bit too much like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with the eyes they used but otherwise this film looks great. I need to see this.

Fester Award

You know if the Macabre Drive-In Theater gave out an award it'd be the "Fester". I like the idea but don't have photoshop to whip a cool award pic, maybe one day soon. There are some great blogs that deserve a Fester.

Halloween Comics

You know i didn't know they made comics based on Halloween, i'm not as in touch with the comic book world as i used to be. Comics don't look too bad.
Anyone read these?
