Paul Naschy Blogathon

There's a Paul Naschy Blogathon going on at some horror movie themed sites. I'm enjoying it. The Macabre isn't a part of it but supports it in spirit, so to speak.

Ingrid Pitt

Sadly we've lost her, she was one of my favorites. She all types of films but horror seem to be where she found her best film roles. So beautiful and sexy, good bye Ingrid.

Happy Halloween

Wanted to wish you all a Happy Halloween!
Sorry the Macabre didn't do much this year but we had so much planned but the way we couldn't post pictures earlier in the month just crushed our spirits and we used the Macabre tumblr to post the pics (i hope some of you checked that out and enjoyed it).
If we're here next year, i as your humble and creepy host will try again to make Spooktober the best month ever here on the Macabre Drive-In Theater blog.
Take care and watch out for zombies, they're usually really hungry on Halloween.

A few caps from one of my favorite films.
Always a part of Halloween marathon here at the Macabre!

The Fun Of Halloween

I love it when Halloween is celebrated by comic book/cartoon characters as being fun for kids. The opression from so called "Christians" on the holiday has taken away a lot of fun for kids.
Be young and enjoy Halloween!

The Tingler

Ms Monster

Something delightful to look at this fine Spooktober morning. You just gotta love Ms. Monster. :)

Look even Elvira is happy to see the Macabre blog back in action!
Now the Macabre Drive-In Theater blog back in action will not mean that the Macabre Tumblr will stop posting, far from it...the tumblr will posting many more cool pics you won't see here so be a fan of both! :)
It's a Happy Halloween again around here at the old Drive-In.

It's a Halloween Miracle!
I can upload pics again!!!!!

Screen caps of Vincent Price and Peter Cushing from the movie "Madhouse" can be found at the Macabre Tumblr.

Film #1
Madhouse (1974)

Happy Spooktober

Maybe it's a good thing the Macabre isn't listed in the Countdown To Halloween (although i thought we were, oh well) because i'm seriously hampered by Blogger and not able to post pictures.

But i have devised a cunning it dosen't involve a thingie shaped turnip, i created a Macabre Drive-In Theater Tumblr! Genius right? So all the pics for here will be there!

Stay Sick!

just a test to see if the banana and the Macabre have been killed by blogger again.

Serious Problem

Seems i can't upload files from my HD to my posts now. This will make Countdown To Halloween next to impossible for the Macabre! I have no idea what the hell Blogger has done or what the point is.
Anyone have a solution or the same problem?

damn it

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Elvira!
Ah yes a true ghoul of my dreams.
I think countdown to Halloween here at the Macabre needs a daily Elvira pic and so it shall.

Miss Selena Gomez

See? she just has that exotic quality of the original Vulnavias.

Countdown To Halloween

It's getting closer, i've been saving up ideas and pics for the whole month of October.
I can't wait!

In a Phibes Remake.

Who should play Vulnavia?

I can see the young actress (all of 18) Selena Gomez in the part.

The Macabre?

Is this the Macabre Drive-In Theater back in 1948 before it became the ghostly haunt that we all love?
The ghosts of all the torn down and forgotten drive-ins live on in the Macabre.

It's Wednesday!

Blood Beast Terror

Cal over at the excellent "Calvin's Canadian Cave Of Coolness" has started a cult trailer of the week challenge, find a bad er cult movie with a actor we all know and post the trailer. I naturally picked Blood Beast Terror ( Vampire Beast Craves Blood) a "What the heck is Cushing doing in this?" film.
Enjoy Peter as he has fun in a film he knew was crap and shriek at the non-horror of it all.

Check out Cal's pick, Starcrash.

Can You Feel It?

Halloween is (if my math is correct and that's dodgy at best) only 75 days away!
Spooks and goblins and Fall nights, can't wait! Especially in thes 90 + days and humid Florida nights here at the old Macabre.

Abominable Rumour

Heard an abominable rumor on the House Of Phibes email list that someone wants to remake the Dr. Phibes film. They'll mash the two films into one and in their words "tell the whole story" which really isn't true since there was to have been a third film or maybe more. Take to classic films and make them into one most likely cheaply made film and you just know they'll add cheap ass cgi and make it in 3D. What could be worse?...yeah i know hiring Rob Zombie to direct.

I cringe at the idea of who they would cast as Phibes.

Happy Birthday Eddie!

Happy Birthday to Butch Patrick!
He's 57 today.

It's Wednesday!

Horror Blogger Meme

1: In Ten Words or Less, Describe Your Blog

Famous Monsters Of Filmland like blog set at a Drive-In.

2: During What Cinematic Era Where you Born?
A: The Classic Horror Era (late 30's to 40's)
B: The Atomic Monster/Nuclear Angst Era (the late 40's through 50's)
C: The Psycho Era (Early 60's)
D: The Rosemary's Baby Era (Mid to Late 60's)
E: The Exorcism Era (Early to mid 70's)
F: The Halloween Era (Late 70's to Early 80's)
G: The Slasher Era (Mid to late 80's)
H: The Self Referential/Post Modern Era (1990 to 1999)

B - I was zapped by radioactive energy at a Drive-In and have lurked on the weird side of life ever since.

3: The Carrie Compatibility Question:

I don't really understand the question.

4: You have been given an ungodly amount of money and total control of a major motion picture studio - what would your dream Horror project be?

"Buddy Holly Meets The Vampires", a biopic of the Ramones and the Cramps and i have a movir i've wanted to make since the 70's called "Odd", really don't want to go into details because i might write it one day. Oh i'd also get the rights to all the Hammer films and put them all out on DVD.

5: What horror film "franchise" that others have embraced, left you cold?

Not so much a franchise but H.G. Lewis gore and Italian gore like Fulci, they just leave me colder than a corpse.

6: Is Michael Bay the Antichrist?

No that's Ulle Bowe. Michael Bay needs to cool it with the CGI and explosions and actually have a plot in one of his movies.

7: Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Frankenstein Monster - which one of these classic villains scares you, and why?

Dracula and Wolfman were cool and i wanted to be both but as a kid the Frankenstein monster scared the bats out of me!

8: Tell me about a scene from a NON HORROR Film that scares the crap out of you:

Any film where people get their heads chopped off, it still bothers me. I think i was decapitated in a former life.

9: Baby Jane Hudson invites you over to her house for lunch. What do you bring?

An uzi...just in case.

10: So, between you and me, do you have any ulterior motives for blogging? Come, on you
can tell me, it will be our little secret, and I won't tell a soul.

To find wonderful, strange creatures like myself who enjoy the weird and macabre. And to honor a friend who created great monster movie email lists, she's sadly vanished on us.

11: What would you have brought to Rosemary Woodhouse's baby shower?

Holy water in a water gun just to be a smartass.

12: Godzilla vs. The Cloverfield Monster, who wins?

Godzilla, no one can beat GOJIRA!

13: If you found out that Rob Zombie was reading your blog, what would you post in hopes that he read it?

Hey Rob, try to make something original and stop f***ing up classic horror films, ok?

14: What is your favorite NON HORROR FILM, and why?

15: If blogging technology did not exist, what would you be doing?

Running a Drive-In.

Gakked from Joe at Caffenated Joe.

And it would mean Halloween time here at the Macabre!
